101 Secrets a Good Dad
Knows
By Walter Browder and Sue Ellen Browder
Format: Book
Target Audience: Fathers
Description: This book describes such things as how to whistle with a
blade of grass, how to find the North Star, how to shoot a free throw, and how
to pick up a bug without using your hands.
Reviewers' Comments:
- The book is filled with activities and secrets any father may want to
know. The activities and secrets will help a father bond with a child.
- It is a collection of tricks/skills to teach children like reading a
compass, skipping a rock, carving a whistle, and so on. There is no
parenting information whatsoever, but if it inspires a father to be involved
with a child then it's worth having. Safety is emphasized (except for
how to pull a wheelie on a bike, which I wouldn't try.)
- The book is not a research book but an activity book for fathers in
general. It has ideas for things to do with children that are fun to
do.
- Teaching children some of these activities may be stress-relieving for
some dads.
- The reading is easy and fun. You can read a little or a lot,
depending on time and interest.
